Minette du Toit

Singer

Minette’s qualifications include: BMus, BMus (Hons) and MMus (Cum Laude), all majors in singing. She completed the Unisa Teachers and Performance Licentiates (both Cum Laude) and received the DJ Roode Overseas Scholarship, the Gertrude Buchanan and Samro prizes. She won the overall ATKV Musiq competition and both the singing category and the Mozart prizes. Minette was first runner-up in the SAMRO International Scholarship competition and also received the prize for the best performance of a prescribed work.

In 2009 she was a finalist in the Kohn Foundation International Song Competition in London. Minette has attended several summer schools such as Ticino Musica in Lugano and AIMS in Graz.

She performs as a soloist in Oratorio and is an accomplished singer of lieder regularly appearing at the Song Maker’s Guild in Cape Town. Minette has featured at several arts festivals including the KKNK, Klein Karoo Klassique, AARDKLOP, Woordfees, Cultivaria, Suidooster Fees and Greyton Classics for All Festival. She has been nominated for three Fiësta awards for her contribution to classical music at an arts festival.

Minette is a senior lecturer in Singing at Stellenbosch University.

Minette begin in 1993 met sangonderrig olv Magdalena Oosthuizen aan die Universiteit van Stellenbosch. Sy behaal die grade BMus, BMus (Honneurs) en MMus (Cum Laude) met sang en altviool as hoofinstrumente. Sy voltooi die Unisa Onderwys – en Voordraers Lisensiaat (beide Cum Laude) en verwerf die D.J. Roode Oorseese Beurs, die Gertrude Buchanan en die SAMRO-prys by die Unisa beurskompetisie in Pretoria. Sy was die algehele wenner van die ATKV Muziq kompetisie waar sy ook die kategorieprys vir Sang asook die Mozartprys ontvang het. Sy behaal die 2e plek in die SAMRO Internasionale Beurskompetisie vir Sangers asook die prys vir die beste vertolking van voorgeskrewewerk. Sy woon verskeie somerskole en meesterklasse by in Lugano, Innsbruck, Venisië en Graz waar sy onderrig ontvang by onder andere Barbara Bonney en Michelle Breedt. In 2009 was Minette ‘n finalis in die 2009 “Kohn Foundation Wigmore Hall International Song Competition” in Londen. Sy tree gereeld op as solis in Oratoriums en Liederuitvoerings en is gereeld te sien by kunstefeeste soos KKNK, Klein Karoo Klassique, Woordfees, Grhamstad Nasionale Kunstefees, Aardklop, Suidoosterfees, en die Greyton Classic’s For All-fees. Sy is in 2012 genooi om te sing tydens Mimi Coertse se Tagtigste Verjaarsdag-Gala in Kunstekaap. Sy tree gereeld op in Zimbabwe en Namibië waar sy ook meesterklasse aanbied. Minette is al drie keer benoem vir ‘n Kyknet Fiesta-toekenning vir haar bydrae tot klassieke musiek op nasionale kunstefeeste. Minette is ‘n senior lektor in sang asook hoof van die sangafdeling by Stellenbosch Universiteit.
