Colleen Naudé

Journalist

Colleen Naudé, Editor of Finweek until August 2010, worked and lived in Cape Town, Windhoek and Johannesburg. She started her journalism career at Die Burger in Cape Town after graduating (BA Hons in Linguistics) from Stellenbosch University. While her children were small she freelanced, and later lectured at UCT for six years.

Her knowledge of financial journalism was honed (before she was head-hunted by Finweek) at PricewaterhouseCoopers through writing and editing auditing manuals and client proposals; and later through various courses developed for and aimed at financial journalists.

She was head-hunted by Finweek and joined the magazine as editor of surveys. She later started a section on entrepreneurs, and interviewed hundreds of South African entrepreneurs, among them most of the finalists for the annual Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Awards, including Raymond Ackerman, Bill Lynch, Koos Bekker, Pam Golding, Brian Joffe and others.

As Editor of Finweek she wrote a weekly opinion piece, ‘To My Mind’, on economic, political and financial issues.

She now works as editor, writer, and translator. She and her husband live in Hermanus.
